Excerpt from Matrix Reflections, page 5

"What you know you can't explain. But you feel it.You felt it you're entire life. That there is something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is but it is there; like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about."

"The Matrix?"
Matrix
There comes a point in life when we realize something is wrong with the world. We may not be able to put our finger on it but the knowledge of this fact is with us.The reality that there is murder, terrorism, rape, incest and many other forms of evil in the world make it an inescapable conclusion.
Even when we look at our own lives we see a battle within each of us to do good or evil. Many of us find ourselves ashamed of the choices we make that hurt ourselves and others. Mark Twain wrote: "Man is the only animal that blushes. Or needs to." 3
This knowledge of evil in the world brings us back to The Question and the need to know why things are the way they are. For those of us who want to know the answer this knowledge brings us a feeling which becomes like a splinter in our mind.
